Diaper and Clothing in Babies | शिशुओं में डायपर और वस्त्र

Diaper and clothing in newborns is something which comes in mind before delivery for first time parents. Usually parents keep their decision before baby is born and are ready with stuff.

Diapers have been in use since long back time, but they keep on launching every time with some betterment. Earlier reusable cloth diapers were used but nowadays people prefer Use and throw diapers. A child may need 10 diapers a day.

Cloth diapers: many parents still prefer these reusable cloth diapers because these are economical, environment friendly, easy to wash and can be used multiple times. These diapers come in Velcro end or snap end to close them properly. These are of square shape; you have to fold it into triangle form and place buttocks of baby with long side of triangle behind upper waist and third corner facing down towards feet. Bring all corners of triangle in front near umbilicus and secure them with knot or some pin. These should be washed in soft detergent which is hypoallergic to baby skin. It should be soiled first then wash in separate laundry.

Disposable diapers: these are used one time and every time new diaper should be put on. It is used like open the diaper then slide it beneath baby by lifting legs of baby, then secure ends of corners with adhesive tape already at ends. Make sure they aren’t tied too tightly around thighs. Used diapers should not be garbage at one place for long time as it leads to bacterial growth in them. Use your hands every time after you change diapers.

Wiping before putting new diaper:-

It should be done with lukewarm water with help of cotton ball, cotton cloth or baby wipes.

It should be done front to backward, especially in girl children in whom there is chance of getting urinary tract infection.

In chubby babies, creases of legs and abdomen should be cleaned

If you notice any rash in diaper area, then ask your doctor which cream to apply.

Few points to keep in mind:

While changing diaper, parents go here and there to collect stuff. They should not leave child alone for a second because there are chance child might get turn on one side and may fall from height of bed or table.

In boys, while putting on diaper place the penis in downward position because if they urinate, it avoids creeping of urine above waist line.

If umbilical cord has not yet fallen down, then keep upper margin of diaper folded below umbilicus.

Make sure wet diaper is not kept for long time on baby.

Keep your baby free of diaper for atleast 5-6 hours a day.

Detergent used to wash diapers should be child friendly.
